Moth sailors of ten countries gathered at lake Garda to find the winner of the 5th Act of the 2015 Moth EuroCup. The hosting club, Fragila Vela Malchesine, provided perfect surroundings and the lake showed nice conditions on all three days of racing.
First on the race course where the kite foilers, as soon as they had completed there races the Moths and Flying Phantoms were called to the starting line. The Moth fleet sailed four races on the first and second day, due to a thunderstorm only two races could be sailed on the third day. The fight for the top spots was close, but in the end Ben Paton could win the event. Stefano Rizzi followed in second, Rory Fitzpatrick could claim the third. Ben also showed off his skills during the storm as the only one sailing in estimated 30+ knots and nasty waves.
Breeze only close to the shore of Malchesine made a long distance race on saturday impossible, the sailors still had a good time practicing their tacks and gibes. On sunday the last race of the foiling week was started at 08:00 and concluded a great week of sailing, italian hospitality and tight competition.
