17 competitors found their way to the beautiful village Ebensee deep in the austrian Mountains. Unfortunately the weather forecast predicted “difficult” conditions, but the fleet was optimistic throughout. On the first day the fleet was sent out but came back to shore quickly again due to the lack of wind. Still nobody was bored, the other athletes at the Traunsee Action Days showed great performance in their respective fields, ranging from kitefoilers (who were also landlocked), over wakeboarders to wakesurfers, SUPers and more.
After a great breakfast in the Hotel provided by the organisers, the mothies rigged their boats for the sunniest day of the weekend. The first gusts built on the lake and 4 races were started in very light and sometimes less than marginal conditions, three of them had to be abandoned. The one finished race saw the austrian Champ Max Stelzl take the top spot in front of Kai Adolph (GER) and Michael Schönleitner (AUT).
The predictions for Sunday showed some heavy rainsqualls, which arrived with just enough wind to get another 2 races in. The conditions were very challenging, many sailors dropped off the foils from time to time due to the gusty and shifty wind. Max Stelzl managed to win the event overall with a sweep of three race victories, followed by Michael Schönleitner and Erik Lindahl (FIN) to complete the podium.
We want to thank all competitors, organisers and volunteers for participating and making the Traunsee Action Days happen and hope to see you and many more again next year!
The overall results will be updated shortly.
